Diploma Projects
Non formal education in Permaculture
New ways of sharing knowledge with the next generation of permaculturists?
For this diploma ive concentrated only on designs of projects that i have worked on every stages of preparation and implementation.
The projects for this diploma are:
For the design process of this projects ive chosen the O.B.R.E.D.I.M.C.E. as main framework.
Projects description
Wen i design i try to keep my design toolbox very close to me, so that at any moment i can just look inside and see which one is the most efficient tool in that precise moment.
For the design process of this projects ive chosen the O.B.R.E.D.I.M.C.E. as main framework, based on the O.B.R.E.D.I.M. tool to which i extended the C. and E. and mixed with other tools like holistic management or the scale of permanence.
This
is the story of a permaculturist that one day discovered that
learning the language of nature is a never ending process...
...and that by feeling like walking in the book of truth, a huge amount of inspiration is produced that can be replicated in a verry invasive way .

The
process of design and implementation of a project that would be a
laboratory of permaculture in the heart of a city , as the first
living example of the possibilities to develop ecologically rich
ecosystems using permaculture technics in the urban context of
Lisboa.
Educational
area developed with the idea of creating a very diverse and
multifunctional garden that would be an example of what can be done
on a small scale.
This garden would provide a shop and café, with all the herbs and teas in combination with the function of being a seed sanctuary of perennial and anual plants.

Design of a lake to support a forest garden with fertilization and biodiversity and to create an educational example about how to create an aquatic microclimate and the impact that they have on the ecosystems regeneration.
Project
about the process of converting an old orange orchard, degraded by
conventional agriculture practices, and giving place to a forest
garden with a healthy soil, that can be productive and educational at
the same time.
This project was developed during the 10 week internship of the Vale da Lama permaculture Institute.
The idea was to develop a 1 week long bio construction course that would combine different thecnics and that would create something useful for the farm.
With the help of Nuno Mamede a bio construction expert, we decided to built a rocket stove to heat the volunteers house and that would also have an heated a bench.
After
a close observation of the diferent aproaches to the permaculture
diploma process in diferent countries around the world, the moment
to start also the Portuguese system arrived.
The main goal was to create a efficient and simple model that would support the permaculture community.

The
chalenge of this project was to organize a convergence that would
host the european teachers community involved on the development of
tools and contents for the teaching of permaculture, in this event
the teachers would discuss about the past and the future of
permaculture and the meaing of it nowadays.
Considering the importance of relating to the community in the exterior of the permaculture projects, it came the idea to develop a project about networking.
Looking for people to get involved and educated was the main goal of this project.
